This particular subway platform in NashVegas had been out of service for three months. Something to do with a gas leak… but here he was, following the MonStar app to his next delivery. A shopping bag of bandages, antiseptic, and a 12-pack of Lizard Lung Citrus Beer. An IPA that Benny thought tasted more like lizard piss… but who was he to judge what his client ordered?

As his footsteps echoed into the deserted train station, the young man glanced at his phone for the time; 3:23 AM. Seven minutes early. Cool. Maybe this Drake Tumins would tip better than the last drop.

“Hello? MonStar Delivery…” Benny called into the darkness. His voice echoed down the tile floor and up the walls. Trickling down to the dark tunnel of unserviced train tracks.

Nothing…

He checked his phone, and the location of his drop was marked exactly where he was with a large blue star. He tapped the button that read, “Delivery Has Arrived.”

*Ping*

He looked up at the distant sound of someone else’s phone being alerted down the tracks.

Straining his eyes, the delivery boy tried to see through the veil of darkness, aware that someone was watching him from the shadows.

“Got your emergency kit here,” he tried to solicit a response from whoever…whatever was lurking along the train tracks.

A screeching roar rumbled up from the dark tunnel he was staring at. It was so loud and dynamic that it vibrated the tiling beneath his feet. Dust from the light fixtures above shook down through the air.

Despite the appropriate MonStar delivery etiquette being to stand his ground… don’t show fear. The twenty-year-old couldn’t ignore his gut feeling to run. That noise came from something big. Something angry. Something…coming this way.

He darted behind one of the cement pillars to get a better grip of the situation. The way Benny figured it, if he was out in the open, he had less of a chance of surviving whatever was yelling at him. This was his third MonStar delivery, and so far…he hadn’t quite gotten used to the terrifying monsters he was forced to interact with to keep this job.

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed up from the tunnel, a clicking and grumbling of inhumane squeals filled the tiled train station. Despite his better judgment, Benny’s entire body was shaking from fear. He couldn’t catch his breath, and panic was creeping through his veins.

“Be cool, be cool,” he whispered to himself as he fumbled with his phone to see if there were any special instructions for the delivery. The only note was, ‘Tunnel Stalker - Use Caution.’

A SCREECHING SCREAM echoed louder and closer…

“What is that?” he asked himself, eyes wide as he instinctively turned on his phone. Using the camera to get a better look around the pillar for his terrifying client.

An 8-foot-tall mass of prickly darkness was limping its way toward him. The creature was grumbling with every step forward. A low vibrational sound of uncertainty, pain, and danger that made Benny tremble uncontrollably. “What is that? What is that?” he asked himself as he used his phone to check again.

It was then that the creature spotted him, crouching down and letting out a horrific scream. Benny couldn’t tell if it was a warning, a demand, or a hello… whatever it was the tone was menacing and certainly uninviting.

**PING**

Benny had received a message.

<picture></picture>

Oh… right …

He looked down at the pack of beer and the shopping bag in his hand. She insists Benny step inside and put the package on her foyer table.

But Benny’s “spider sense” is screaming danger. The old lady keeps coaxing him in, her tone sweet but off. Every shadow and creak turning into suspicion.

The tension builds until Benny has no choice but to gather his courage and confront whatever’s in the dark.

It’s a quick, tense look at how fear hits when you’re alone, tired, and maybe in way over your head.

🎥 Behind the Scenes

This short was an experiment on two fronts:

Character Study → A chance for all of us to get to know Benny more intimately in his own space, outside of the club deliveries and crime boss pressure.

Handheld AI Effects → We’ve always wanted to push AI filmmaking into rough, handheld territory. This short gave us the chance to test:

Selfie POV transitions into front-facing shots.

Fast camera swings inside a tight apartment.

AI augmentation layered onto Benny’s face, clothing, and environment, even while the camera moved wildly.

We learned a ton making this one! Still a work-in-progress, and we’re excited about how these techniques can carry into future MonStar shorts.

🙌 Thanks for Watching

Every short like this helps us build this mystery world piece by piece while sharpening our workflow. The last drops of a summer rain trickled down on a light post. The glow greeted a gangly young man in a white leather jacket. There was a particular hesitation in his step as he stopped in the center of the pool of light.

Ahead of him was a crowd of people who had formed between closed shops and red velvet ropes. The large doorway of one of the most prestigious nightclubs in town had just opened its doors. A large man, with wrestler mania thickness in his shoulders and head, stepped out to applause. The Knight Owl was open for business, and patrons had been waiting hours to get in.

Benny Anderson, early twenties, bit down on his lip and took in a breath. He checked his cellphone for the hundredth time that hour to make sure this was the right address. His hand shook under the pressure of what the correct location meant.

If he didn’t get this drop right, he was going to end up beaten to shit or worse – dead.

The last two assignments he’d been on didn’t quite go so well, okay? And frankly, delivering to The Knight Owl was one of the biggest clients in Big-T’s books. Who’s Big-T, you ask? Just one of the meanest up-and-coming kingpins in Nashvegas. A big-nosed badass motherfucker who’d served 2 stints in prison for a variety of legendary reasons.

The young man couldn’t be certain if Big-T’s tale involved multiple murder cases or cartel informant backstabbing. But one thing was for certain - he could not fuck up.

As he stepped into the moving line, the first fifty patrons were let in without stopping. With each step forward, Benny’s heart picked up speed. He kept checking his pockets to make sure the delivery was safe. Still on his person. Despite knowing he needed to keep the contents of his jacket pockets unsuspicious, Benny couldn’t for the life of him stop fidgeting. It wasn’t every day you had $1500 worth of goods rubbing against your nipples.

He just needed to get inside. Once he was inside, he’d be safe to deliver what he – wait… why was the line stopping?

A collective groan of the crowd echoed up the wet city street as the selection process began. It was fairly well known that The Knight Owl was poised to turn away anyone they didn’t think worthy of entry. Dress code was important, as was your ability to prove you’d been there before and knew the rules.

Patrons of such an establishment needed to wear one of three colors: white, black, or red. They needed to be a high-caliber individual, clean, poised, and just fuckin’ cool.

Benny wasn’t so certain he fit in with this particular crowd. He’d grown up in East Nasty amongst the rabble rousers, food stamp queens, and drug dealers. These people? These people decorated their coke nails with diamonds and vibrant nail polish. They drank Grey Goose with their Cheerios and threw out white Nikes cause they had a few scuff marks. They sure as hell never had to scrape the shake from their grinders for the last bit of green on a Sunday.

The young man took in a deep breath to calm his nerves. Everything was going to be fine. He just needed to get to the front of this stupid fucking line and let the bouncer know what he had under his jacket. The guy would have to let him in…. right?

Jumping away from a buzzing in his back pocket, he reached around and looked at his phone.. His throat tightened as though he were going into anaphylaxis shock.

“Yo, Big T, how’s–”

“Why’d I just get a call from the client sayin’ you ain’t there yet?”

“What? No, I’m here. I’m outside, I’m standing in line.”

“Boy… why you standin’ in a fuckin’ line for? Use your credentials and get this done. Now.”

“Oh…Right…” Benny hadn’t thought of that. In fact, he hadn’t even realized the two-week-old tattoo on his wrist had that kind of power.

As the boy ducked under the velvet ropes, the boss continued on. “Now look, don’t give those bastards any of it until they hand you the money.”

“I won’t, I swear.”

“That’s what you said last time, and the Cuz had to go clean up your mess. You fuck this one up and you’re goin’ back to your little corner on 3rd. Got it?”

“I won’t let you down, Big-T.”

“Just…be careful how you handle yourself in there, kid.”

“I swear, I got this.”

Click.

“Big T? Hello?” Benny glanced down at his phone to realize the call had ended. Despite his nerves, the young man managed to whisper out a retaliatory, “Asshole,” before pocketing his device.

As he looked up Benny realized the partygoers he’d just cut in line were all staring at him. Daring him to make the move. He tried his best to avoid making eye contact as he didn’t want to have to explain exactly what he was doing. Frankly, he didn’t quite know what he was doing. But straightening his jacket and taking a breath, he stepped up to the doorman.

The problem was the closer he stepped, the more the thin-muscled wannabe thug realized he was outsized. The club doors were easily 10ft tall and doubled. The man in front of them filled that doorway like a linebacker who’d been hit with Szalenski’s enlarging ray. His body and square-shaped head filled the doorway in a manner that made you wonder if he was half-giant.

It only took a few moments for the man’s attention to turn to the worm who’d cut in line, and Benny felt his knees start to shake. His jaw quivered as his hands fidgeted.

“Hey, man, uh….. I… erm…” Benny forgot what he was going to say. He forgot what he was supposed to- “Oh… right… here.” He tugged up his sleeve and revealed an upside-down T tattooed on his wrist in black.

The large man examined it at a glance and reached behind him for the door. Opening it for Benny to enter. The crowd groaned in annoyance that the line cutter had been granted access.

Despite the anticipation of being turned away, there was a rush of cool air from inside that beckoned him in. Benny was surprised by how easy this was all turning out to be.

The credentials really worked.

Maybe he wasn’t going to fuck this up after all.

No One Likes You

2025 AIFF Film Festival Submission

Amber Wilkinson

This was our fully AI film submission to the AIFF Film Festival. We didn’t place, but it was a great exercise in what Runway (Gen4) could pull off.

THE CONCEPT

We’ve been tinkering with an idea of building a web series called “NO ONE LIKES YOU.” Based on a phrase we’ve seen thrown around in various debates online. Because... the internet is such a nice, friendly place to have discussions... XD

What we find interesting about LLMs is that they are just one big reflection of humanity. Trained on everything the human species has created and then asked to reflect information in a non-controversial manner.

The idea for this series was to take two opposing sides of a controversial topic and ask CHATGPT to evaluate what each side fears and desires most. Then reflect those fears in a mirroring conversation/monologue.

A lot of the time the fears of opposing sides mimic one another - and the deep desires often mimic each other as well. They just seek solutions in different ways.

We figured this approach could bridge the gap between various topics our world is facing today. But we started with the one we’ve been entrenched in since 2022.

THE DEBATE

To explore this idea, we decided to lean into the Pro-AI and Anti-AI Filmmaker debate.

We’ve been following the pros and cons of AI use in art, film, and publishing. While we’re obviously pro-ai in workflows, we recognized that there are some very specific topics that pop up on the regular.

We prompted the script from ChatGPT and directed the edits to the script the same way a producer would a writer or director.

Eventually, the script sorted itself out, and we were able to dive into production.

THE CREATIVE INTERPRETATION

Originally, the ChatGPT script was written as if it were 1 PRO-AI individual and 1 ANTI-AI individual monologuing, and we were going to intercut the conversations together. But we thought it’d be fun to break it up as though two separate conversations were happening in one location.

The decision allowed us to get a bit more diversity in characters, genders, and ethnicities to showcase how broad the sphere of filmmaking can be and is.

THE LOCATION

The Coffee Shop location was a regular meeting spot for a lot of our clients and crew back in the day.

So we figured, why not engage the location as though it’s a character in the story? A place where discussions of opposing views can be shared.

Like the walls were listening and compiling the differences and similarities in the story.

THE PERFORMANCES

We performed the piece using Runway’s ACT 1. It was fun exploring characters that would say things we wouldn’t actually say. But we tried our best to give life to the opposing side that felt genuine and real.

The fear of AI is a real one that we didn’t want to diminish, and we worked hard to capture the passion on both sides for storytelling and their ultimate fears of being left behind, forgotten, or stuck in a purgatory of making things that don’t actually matter to anyone.

OVERALL RESULT

While it’s not in the vein of what we want to be making, this was a really fun exercise. And it allowed us to really put Runway to the test. We probably won’t pursue “No One Likes You’ as a series, but it was a fun development piece that we’re pretty proud of.

Let us know what you think. Should we make more? What opposing topics would you be interested in seeing the AI reflect back at us?

Astral Annie | Concept Trailer

Astral Annie - Pitch Blitz #2

Amber Wilkinson

Hey Void Fam,

This week we finally dropped something we’ve been dreaming about for years — the first cinematic trailer for Astral Annie.

If you’ve been following us, you know this one is special. Astral Annie is the story of Annie Morgan, the eldest daughter of a military family who’s constantly on the move. But when her family settles into a new town, Annie discovers something that can’t be packed away or left behind:

👻 She can see ghosts. And the ghosts can see her.

🌙 The Story Behind the Trailer

Annie’s little sister “falls” from a treehouse… but in reality, she’s pushed by one of the three Smithwick Sisters, a coven of evil witches who want her soul.

Annie has to team up with a local boy and journey into the astral plane to fight the Smithwick Sisters.

Along the way, Annie discovers she’s a benandanti — a “good witch” born to protect the innocent.

It’s a coming-of-age tale about courage, family, and choosing to do the right thing, wrapped in dark mystery, supernatural suspense, and just enough comedy to breathe between scares.

Think of it as Stranger Things meets The Sixth Sense, but through our lens. Not a kids’ movie — but definitely one they’ll sneak-watch when they’re old enough.

🎥 How We Made the Trailer

The trailer you just watched wasn’t built in Hollywood. It was built right here in our micro studio with a Frankenstein’s lab of AI + Unreal tools:

Runway for raw shot generation.

Hailuo MiniMax, SDXL, Flux, ComfyUI for refining, layering, and controlling details.

Unreal Engine 5.6 for complex camera moves, dialogue shots, and environmental realism.

Most of the trailer is pure AI imagery stitched into cinematic form, but when things got tricky — like long dialogue exchanges or moving cameras — Unreal Engine gave us the backbone.

🚧 Why This Matters

This trailer isn’t just a test. It’s a pitch piece for the Astral Annie feature script we’re writing right now. It shows the mood, the stakes, and the characters — and proves that even with two people, one mocap suit, and some stubborn computers, we can build worlds at scale.

This is the kind of story we want to keep telling: bold, supernatural, emotional, and impossible to shake.

💡 What’s Next

We’ll be diving deeper into Annie’s script over the next couple months.

Expect more astral plane concept art + BTS breakdowns here in the membership.

Long-term? We want this one in script book form and eventually on screen.

Thanks for being the first ones to see behind the curtain. This project means a lot to us, and we can’t wait to bring you deeper into Annie’s world.

🖤 Amber + Jayson

Kung Fu Kitten’s Origins

A foray into AI Slop for Concepting and Narrative Exploration

Amber Wilkinson

Hey Void Fam,

We just dropped something really close to our hearts: the origin story of Kung, our little hero from Kung Fu Kittens.

This short film doesn’t have dialogue — it’s told completely through visuals and music — but it says everything you need to know about why this little kitten fights.

🐱 The Story

Baby Kung walks down a dark alley beside his mother, both dressed in humble kung fu robes.

A vicious white street dog appears, eyes hungry. His mom knows instantly: this dog isn’t here to play.

She hides Kung inside an abandoned camper van, keeping him safe, before facing the dog head-on.

The fight is brutal — teeth sink in, fur flies — but she rallies, breaking free and delivering a powerful mid-air kick that sends the dog fleeing.

Just when it looks like she’s won, a net drops from above. Animal control. She’s captured and thrown into their van, while Kung watches helplessly from the camper window.

Morning light comes. A human hand gently lifts baby Kung, rescuing him. Soon he’s in a warm home, staring out the window.

Outside, a white van drives by. Kung’s eyes narrow. The final text reads: “I’ll find you, Mom.”

🎨 How We Made It

This entire short was created in just a few days using Flux + Hailuo’s MiniMax AI image-to-video tools. No dialogue. No motion capture. Just pure AI filmmaking stitched together like a memory.

We wanted it to feel hazy, almost like a flashback sequence — because in the actual Kung Fu Kittens screenplay, this all takes place before the main story begins.

🥋 Why It Matters

This sequence shows us two key things about Kung:

His Mother’s Legacy — She wasn’t just protective, she was a fighter. The bloodline of kung fu flows through her, and through the little kittnen, Kung.

His Core Motivation — Kung isn’t just a silly housecat sneaking around adventures. Deep down, he’s on a mission. He hasn’t forgotten his mother, and one day, he’ll go on a quest to find her.

It’s bittersweet, but it makes every funny or action-packed moment in Kung Fu Kittens carry a little more weight.

💡 What’s Next

When we write the full screenplay, this origin story may return as a flashback sequence. Or maybe Kung will tell it to Fu during one of their adventures. Either way, it sets the emotional foundation for why Kung is more than just a kitten with skills — he’s a kitten with purpose.

Thanks for watching this one with us. This means its time for another pitch from the Blitz!

This piece is a scene test for a project we’re code-naming Astral Annie, about a girl who comes into her psychic abilities as she moves to a new town with her military family.

While the initial project will have Annie in the 14-15 age range, this was a backstory scene I wrote years ago when this project was a middle-grade book. It’s cute, and lighthearted, and introduces one of Annie’s best friends—10-year-old Otis, a ghost she met when she was 5.

This pitch allowed us to test what it would take to pull off a single scene in a single location. And let me tell you, it was harder than it sounds.

Fighting the AI for consistency was a chore.

But here are a few tips we learned along the way:

Script with animatics - Use AI images with a scratch track of audio first. Read your screenplay aloud and make sure it hits all the right beats. Our initial script fell really short and didn’t build up too much of anything. Like amateurs, we jumped ahead to running AI animations, hoping it would “fix” the bad writing. Spoiler alert—it didn’t. lol

Talking Heads Only Needs 2 Angles - We got a little too fancy with our camera angles early on, which created a lot of issues with AI. Keeping character consistency was tough when cutting back and forth. Even though we had character LoRAs for both kids, the starting image angle with Minimax really affected how they looked in the final product. What worked? Sticking to one angle for each kid and then running them through Minimax for different emotional movements.

Live Portrait has a “Retargeter” - Use it - When pulling Minimax movement clips into Live Portrait, always close their mouths with the retargeter. This makes the final lip-sync process look way better.

Driver Video Tips - Jayson discovered that using a slightly lower angle for your driver video captured mouth movement more accurately. We tested with the head mount, but it was too wiggly and messed up the AI performance. A small tripod and flat lighting worked best. Also, try not to move your head too much while capturing—it causes weird artifacts along the edges.

Surprisingly, last week’s trailer was way easier than this scene. Character consistency across different locations has more leeway than cutting back and forth in the same scene.

So... maybe trailers are actually easier with AI than full dialogue scenes right now? More tests will make that clear, I think.

The tools are definitely improving, so who knows where this tech/workflow will lead. We’re just excited and grateful to explore even more of it in the future.

Created, Written, & Performed by; Amber & Jwall
Audio: Elevenlabs Voice2Voice & SoundFx | FreeSounds
Music: Adobe Stock
Images: Flux ComfyUI Studio
Ai Animation: Minimax Hailuo
Face: LivePortrait w/ Pinokio
Upscale: WinxvideoAI

Thanks for being part of our creative journey—your feedback and support mean the world!
